"Click It or Ticket" Enforcement

From May 24 to June 6, 2010, the Overland Park Police Department participated in the annual "Click It or Ticket" Grant Enforcement Campaign. More than a dozen officers, working just over 300 hours, patrolled the streets of Overland Park looking for seat belt and child seat violations. Overland Park officers stopped a total of 631 vehicles. More than 1000 citations were issued, to include 388 seat belt violations, 291 speeding citations and 198 hazardous moving violations.

In case you hadn't heard, Kansas Governor Mark Parkinson recently signed House Bill 2130, amending the state's seat belt law. HB 2130 requires all drivers and front seat passengers to buckle up. The law goes into effect on June 10, 2010. From that day to June 30, 2010, officers will be giving warnings. After June 30, 2010, citations will be issued.

Please buckle up and save a life. It may be your own.
