$83,000 in Stolen Property Returned to Rightful Owners

On August 5, 2010 Overland Park Detectives served search warrants on a home and two rented storage lockers. The Investigators recovered a large quantity of stolen property as a result of the searches. Additionally, two adults were arrested and charged with felony crimes in connection to the stolen property. The actual crimes occurred not only in Overland Park but also in Lenexa, Shawnee, Merriam, Kansas City, Kansas, and Kansas City, Missouri.

In an effort to return the stolen items to the rightful owners it was decided the news media would be contacted and provided still photos of the recovered property. Next, Television stations were encouraged to video tape the items for their news broadcasts. As of today more than $83,000.00 in stolen property has been returned to crime victims. So far the returned items include a 2007 Jeep Wrangler, a 2006 Ford F-150 pickup truck, a go-cart, power tools, sporting goods and other miscellaneous but valuable property. A large quantity of the property still remains unclaimed. Investigators are attempting to return the remaining property to the rightful owners.
