Even though it is close to 40 degrees this morning our officers have taken two reports so far of cars being stolen while they were left running. The first crime occurred in the 9600 block of Grandview at about 7:50. The second auto theft happened in the 10600 block of Mastin at 8:40.
Many area law enforcement agencies have cautioned owners/drivers about leaving their vehicles running unattended. Remember security and convenience does not go hand in hand.
Also, it is a violation of Overland Park City Ordinance to leave your vehicle running with the keys in it. The only exceptions are vehicles equipped with a remote starter system.
