On April 20, 2011 at approximately 2:25 a.m., Officers responded to the 11900 block of Oakmont on an auto burglary in progress. The calling party reported that they heard a loud clanging sound coming from outside their residence.
They reported seeing a white male wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt beside a vehicle in the parking lot. They advised that just prior to Officers arriving, a car drove by and the man threw down an object and walked away.
At the scene, Officers found a vehicle with a broken window. It appeared the suspect injured himself because blood was located and collected as evidence. The vehicle’s owner was located, and they advised nothing was missing from the vehicle.
This is a good example of citizens working with the Police Department and calling when they see something suspicious. This caller, by quickly alerting police, may have prevented the suspect from stealing items from this car.
