Bread, Milk and Stolen Property

You just never know what you’re going to find at your local supermarket.

A routine shopping errand by the friend of an area victim serendipitously led to the arrest of two men for the possession of two stolen high-dollar mowers and a 10’ trailer.

An Olathe man reported the theft of these items sometime between midnight and early morning on June 29, 2011. Later that evening, a friend of his spotted a white pickup truck pulling the stolen trailer with one of the mowers on board. The truck was just leaving the parking lot of a grocery store. He called police who quickly located the pickup occupied by two young men within blocks of the store.

What may seem like a quirky twist of fate was actually the result of a citizen being aware of his surroundings and not afraid to “get involved.” When the community and police work together, good things happen.
