DUI Saturation Patrol on Cinco de Mayo

The Overland Park Police Department's Traffic Safety Unit will conduct a DUI Saturation Patrol on Saturday night from 10:00 pm until 2:00 am. Saturation Patrols are conducted with the intent to reduce alcohol related auto accidents and discourage impaired driving. This DUI Saturation Patrol is a non-grant funded event.

These special patrols, which consist of six officers and a supervisor, are for the sole purpose of arresting drivers who are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. The officers assigned to the Saturation Patrols have significant experience in DUI apprehension.

Saturation Patrols typically occur on weekend nights and concentrate on heavily traveled streets and highways. To report an impaired driver in Overland Park, call Police Dispatch at 895-6300 or 911.

To avoid becoming a statistic during the Cinco de Mayo celebration, make arrangements to find a safe way home before celebrating. If you are impaired, call a taxi, or contact someone sober to come pick you up.
