Results of the ‘Teen Angel’ Campaign to Curb Underage Drinking in Overland Park

Over the past three months, members of the Overland Park Police Department have been on the lookout for underage drinking. This special project is called Operation “Teen Angel” and has been a part of the spring break, prom, and graduation season for over a decade.
During this spring’s operation, Overland Park Police arrested 105 people. Of those arrested, 68 were arrested for possessing or consuming alcohol while underage. Officers made the arrests at private residences, liquor stores, parks, and parking lots while working in plainclothes and driving unmarked cars.
Officers also investigated the source of alcohol provision to minors. Officers arrested three adults for furnishing alcohol to minors and one adult for unlawfully hosting an underage alcohol party. Additionally, two juveniles were arrested for furnishing alcohol to other minors and two juveniles were arrested for unlawfully hosting an underage alcohol party.
Officers will continue to be on the lookout for underage drinking all year long. Our effort to curb underage drinking does not stop when our Operation Teen Angel project ends.
