DUI Enforcement Campaign
The Overland Park, Kansas Police Department will be conducting a Labor Day “You Drink, You Drive, You Lose.” S.T.E.P. Campaign from August 16th, 2012 through September 3rd, 2012.
The program is sponsored by the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) and is being conducted with the principle focus on DUI enforcement. Officers working the grant will also be looking for speeding violations, seat restraint violations, and child seat restraint violations.
More than 10,000 police departments and law enforcement agencies across the country will support the campaign beginning August 16th and continuing through the Labor Day holiday weekend.
"Thanks to the dedication and hard work of law enforcement and safety partners like MADD, we've made significant progress in reducing roadway deaths in recent years,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood. "But drunk driving remains a serious, unacceptable threat to our families and our communities. Our campaign is clear – if you choose to drive drunk, you will be held accountable."
