Police Investigate Double Fatality Accident on Saturday

On October 6th, 2012 at around 5:40 am, Overland Park Police investigated a double fatality accident that occurred in the intersection of Nall Ave. and W. 103rd St.

According to a witness, a gray Buick 4-door passenger car was traveling westbound on 103rd and a red Ford F250 4-wheel drive pickup truck was southbound on Nall. The red pickup collided with the passenger car in the intersection before striking a light pole.

The driver of the pickup, identified as 49 year-old Wayne A. Willeford of Prairie Village, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the passenger car, identified as 77 year-old William G. Pennington of Overland Park, was transported to a nearby hospital with critical injuries and was later pronounced deceased.

The Overland Park Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit continues to investigate the accident.

This is the fourth traffic related fatality in the city during 2012. Last year there were a total of five fatalities.
