Oops, There It Is

The construction in the area is no big surprise. It’s been going on for a while now. The weather folks forecasted the rain, so it comes as no surprise either.  What might catch you a little off guard are the traffic pattern changes or standing water on the roadway in these construction areas.

Be extra observant and cautious when traveling through the construction areas.  The rain doesn’t always shut down construction jobs, so workers may still be out trying to stay on schedule.  Uneven pavement can cause water to stand on the roadway and at speeds as low as 45 mph vehicles can hydroplane or lose contact with the roadway.

Slow down and watch for traffic pattern changes or lane closures, such as the new ramp opening at 119th Street and 69 Highway.  If you aren’t paying attention you might drive right past that one.

The few minutes you think you might save driving fast on wet roads won’t matter if you have to spend 45 minutes to an hour waiting for an accident scene to be investigated.
