Officers were busy at the DUI Check Lane conducted Friday, July 26th. 403 vehicles entered the check lane between the hours of 11:00 pm and 2:00 am. Officers found reason to test 38 drivers. Of the 38 drivers tested six were determined to be over the limit or under the influence of alcohol or drugs to a degree that rendered them incapable of safely driving their vehicle.
In addition to the DUI arrests, two drivers were charged with refusal of a preliminary breath test, two were charged with transporting an open container, and one was charged with driving while suspended.
Was it a success? If it stopped one driver from driving drunk, then it was a success. In this case it stopped six and hopefully made an impression on the drivers and occupants of the other 397 vehicles that came through the lane.
